Porto Academy Petition

As a participant, Kaj Zwerver gave voice to the shared concerns of the students of the Porto Academy 2022 summer school by initiating an open letter and petition together with Emma Dieh. The statement focuses on the urgent need for better gender balance and greater cultural diversity within the faculty and the guest lecture program. Specifically, the invisibility of women-led studios and the lack of a female approach in the curriculum were criticized. Under Kaj's leadership, the collective also advocated for a shift in academic focus: from purely aesthetic projects to socially relevant themes such as the climate crisis, social inequality, and inclusive housing. This initiative marks a crucial moment of student activism aimed at promoting safer, more inclusive, and future-proof architecture education.
